In Argentina

Not the pic that I wanted... but took too long to load to change! At an internet cafe in northern Argentina. Things are way more simpler here, for want of a better word. But loving it! Pic is of a cool waterfall on border of Argentina and Brazil, Iguazu. THings are going well guys, we started our second project a couple of days ago, we have showers out of a bucket and at last we feel like we are really roughing it! Just about booked a trip to Galapagos - that´s for you Ellie!
Miss you guys, hope to talk soon. Love JodesX

Waiting...

Hi guys

Just had a look at this site and thought it seems to be dying! So guilted myself into posting, even though I have no real news to put up. I'm still waiting and waiting to see if my contract happens in london - hopefully it will but it's been 3 wks and they still haven't sorted themselves out :P I keep telling them I can go anytime so what's the bet they just turn around and say 'ok your flights are booked for the day after tomorrow - off you go'!?! Anyway hopefully I'll get there...

Mark and I went out to see a ballet at the opera house last night - it was brilliant, I loved it, although we were sitting way up the back so couldn't see a lot of detail. Bizarrely, I got scared because we were too high up... Mark was laughing at me cos there's not really any chance of falling down to the bottom when you're sitting down is there?! Here's a self-taken pic we took during one of the intervals - I like it, it's a bit zany. Don't ask me what the lights are going over our heads, maybe people had sparklers and were waving them behind us... :)

I've been doing family history research into my mum's paternal grandfather's side of the family (other family members had done the rest), and it's pretty cool - I think I've traced my ancestors back to the 1730s in Northamptonshire in the UK. Will try to go visit where they lived if I get over there. They came out to Aus in 1855 and lived in Camden - pretty cool hey?

That's all the news I can think of right now. Hope everyone's going well, and is going to post something up here soon, no matter how mundane!

Oh, and I'm looking forward to the reunion too - I hope playing lawn bowls is fun, I've never done it before. Who do you guys want to catch up with most?

In Argentina!

Hey guys,
Sorry it has been ages since I spoke to many of you! But thanks to Ellie, I could figure out how to put something on while over here (my Spanish isn´t that great yet to read the site stuff here). I can´t figure out how to see my camera on this computer, so you will have to just put up with my words! Well, things are pretty different here in good old Venado Tuerto. This small Argentinian town reminds my strangely of Junee. There are so many rust-bucket cowboy cars still alive... only just... and creeping down the road. It is dry and hot and really, not much to do here on the social side. On the work front, I have been building my muscles on the building site here, yep, you better believe it! Have been doing some brick laying and some plastering. My brick laying is way better than my plastering though. :)
It´s been pretty tough being a team leader... had to have quite a few serious chats with some people in the team about different things. Spanish is slowing getting there. So cheap here! And so much meat! Will be a vego when I leave I think! And the eat so much and stay up sooooooooo late! I feel so old.....
The people are so friendly though.
In about 2 weeks we finish our first project and our going on a short team holiday at some cool waterfalls on the border with Brazil, should be good. Thinking about vising the Golapogas Islands when we finish but not sure yet. Better keep going. Really miss you guys!!!!! Not sure when will be back in oz... when is the reunion again?

Out & About

Hi Everyone,

Just thought it was about time to post something up again. Time is certainly flying by. Just recently the Lovett clan went to canberra for Glenn's cousin's wedding. It was held at the National Museum and was pretty flash. We all had a great time as you can see by the picture Ki enjoyed herself the most I think :)
This Saturday just gone I helped out Dan's Mum at the first ever BJ Bandits Blitz, (translation = amateur line dancing competition). It was a great day and I saw some good dancing - I haven't been to anything like this before. I wish I could have seen some professionals dance too, maybe next time.
A few weeks ago Mackezie had her first birthday which was really cute. Bob did such a great job with helium balloons, heaps of party food and a great soundtrack - a great time was had by all - perhaps they will post some photo's soon?
That's about it for the moment...work has been work what else can I say. Luckily there are a few short weeks now over easter which will get me through the slog to come at June. Glenn is busy going for job interviews so it's all happening here.
Don't be shy and post some new entries soon.

Cool-aid show

Hey guys - who watched that cool-aid show on channel 10 last night? I thought it was good. I just went to the website and did the carbon footprint thingy to work out how much you pollute the air in your household. It told me every year Mark and I put 12.65 tonnes of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere, which means that if everyone on earth lived the same lifestyle that we did, we'd need 36 planet earths to sustain our lifestyle. I'm shocked by that. It's at the channel ten site here, if you follow the "are you a carbon fatty?" link. What do you guys get when you do it?

A glimpse of Northern Ireland

Well guys, I didn't see any mad gunmen wearing balaclavas, but I did see a stunning coastline, a smooth line and some great savings on food and beer! Welcome to Northern Ireland! Many from the south would never venture up there... bad memories... but it is lovely! Check out Giant's Causeway - this really cool step-like coast formation!
There's also a picture of us with a memorial to Yeats the Irish poet, remember him from English guys?
